Rinnai Australia is undertaking a voluntary national product safety recall on a small batch of gas storage water heaters manufactured during December 2022.

What is the hazard?

An internal gas connection may not be adequately secured. This may cause a small gas leak during operation which will stop the water heater from operating leaving it in a safe condition. Attempts by consumers at re-lighting the burner may result in a flame flash extending beyond the boundary of the access door which presents a risk of injury.

What do you need to do?

If your water heater is affected, visit gasstoragecheck.rinnai.com.au or call Rinnai on 1300 364 559 to arrange for an authorised service technician to conduct a free in-home check on your water heater. If your water heater is operating normally, there is no internal gas leak and you can continue to safely use it until the technician visits you. If your water heater stops operating you must not attempt to re-light the burner until the technician has completed the check. Why the product is recalled: The head of the sledgehammer may loosen prematurely and detach unexpectedly during use.

Hazard: There is a risk of injury to the user or bystanders if the head detaches during use.

Sold at Spotlight and Mitre 10 from 1/3/2020 to 10/8/2020

Defect: The spoon may contain primary aromatic amines above the acceptable limit.

Hazard: Potential health risk cannot be excluded as this is a food contact item.

What to do: Consumers should stop using the spoon and return it to the place of purchase for a full refund or to exchange it for the same item manufactured in a different batch.

Lion Snatch Straps - LA400A10, LA400A7, LA400C6 6PC RECOVERY KIT

Due to a labelling concern, a safety recall on several LION Snatch Straps has been initiated.

Product purchased prior between 01/12/2017 and 30/06/2023 may not comply with the labelling requirements of the mandatory standard 'Consumer Goods (Motor Vehicle Recovery Straps) Safety Standard 2017'. The product could have incorrect labelling &/or missing instructions, which may result in misuse of the product.

Hazard: Incorrect use of a snatch strap could cause severe injury or even death.

Kincrome Trolley Jacks Labelling Compliance

Due to a labelling concern we need to action a voluntary recall on a number of our Trolley Jacks, some of which have been supplied to customers.
This recall is due to the word ‘Ground’ missing from one of the labels on the lifting arm and although we do not believe that this is a product safety issue, a recall is necessary at this time to ensure that Kincrome meets the requirements of the Consumer Goods (Trolley Jacks) Safety Standard 2017.
The list of affected product SKU’s and batch codes is in the attached recall notice – action items are below.

Kincrome field team will be providing replacement stickers and reworking affected units over the next 2 weeks.

K12060 – 1350kg Trolley Jack (COM 727618 AX 5435722) – Chargeback.
P12100 – 1350kg Trolley Jack and Stand Bundle – Direct to store.
K12161 – 1,850kg Trolley Jack (COM 825276 AX 7014244) – Chargeback.

Action Items:

Place recall notice at counter.
Take a photo of recall notice on counter and send to recalls@kincrome.com.au
Check all stock on hand against the batch numbers listed on the recall notice.
Remove from sale and quarantine any affected stock.
Kincrome field team will rework stock with new sticker.
Once sticker is applied, stock may be returned to sale.

In the interest of user safety, Makita (Australia) Pty Ltd is undertaking a recall of Makita Chainsaws with the model numbers DCS6401, DCS7301, DCS7900 and DCS7901 for a non-compliant chain brake function.

Defect: The chain brake operation does not comply with ISO 13772.

Hazard: Users may be injured by contact with the rotating chain if the chain brake does not activate when kickback is experienced.

What to do: Makita recommends customers immediately stop using the chainsaw, drain any fuel/oil and take the tool to your nearest Makita service centre for a no charge repair of the chain brake mechanism. QUELL QPI9010 DUAL SENSOR SMOKE ALARM

QUELL BRANDED DUAL SENSOR (PHOTOELECTRIC AND IONISATION) SMOKE ALARM (DC / BATTERY POWERED) MANUFACTURED BETWEEN 10 SEPTEMBER 2016 AND 13 OCTOBER 2017

DEFECT:
In limited instances a yellow protective cap may have been left on one of the two smoke sensors in affected products during the manufacturing process.

HAZARD:
The presence of the yellow protective cap on the smoke sensor compromises the smoke alarms’ ability to detect smoke.

WHAT TO DO IF YOU HAVE THIS PRODUCT:

Using the guide provided, visually inspect the product through the opening on the side of the alarm for the presence of a yellow cap
If a yellow cap is present, immediately contact Quell to receive instructions and request a free replacement smoke alarm
DO NOT remove or return the affected smoke alarm until after receiving and installing the replacement alarm

What are the defects?
The fuel tank seal & fuel lines may leak petrol.

What should you do?
Consumers should check the model and production date of the line trimmer, then go to http://www.makita.com.au/recall (link is external) or call Makita on 1300 361 690 between 8am and 5pm (AEST). If the model and production date is within the affected range consumers should stop using the line trimmer immediately and drain the fuel tank. Consumers should then take the product to their nearest Makita Service Centre for a replacement of the fuel tank seal & fuel lines, or contact Makita on 1300 361 690 to arrange the repair at an authorised service agent.
